National Public Lands Day
Celebrate National Public Lands Day by joining us at Orchard Glen Park on Saturday, September 28, from 1:00-3:00 pm for an afternoon of service dedicated to preserving and enhancing our natural environment. In collaboration with the Minnesota Master Naturalist program, we are hosting an event where volunteers will help collect seeds from the park's pollinator habitat and remove invasive woody plants from beneath the mature orchard trees. These efforts will prevent the spread of invasive species and enhance the beauty of the orchard.
National Public Lands Day, led by the National Environmental Education Foundation, is an annual event where volunteers work together to restore and preserve public lands across the country. From national parks to urban green spaces, it’s a day to show appreciation for these special places, connect with communities, and contribute to the future of our natural resources. This year's theme, "Together for Tomorrow," encourages everyone to join in protecting public lands for future generations.
Loppers and hand pruners will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves, boots, and water. Whether you're part of the Minnesota Master Naturalist program or simply a member of the public who wants to make a difference, we invite you to participate in this important project. Let's work together to improve the land we all share!
Your contribution will help ensure that Orchard Glen remains a vibrant and healthy space for all to enjoy.
