Paint the Prairie
Join the Fargo Park District and United Prairie Foundation for Paint the Prairie, an evening of art and nature at Urban Plains Park from 5:00-8:0 pm on Tuesday, July 29. This unique event invites participants to explore the beauty of native prairie plants through painting en plein air, the French term meaning “in the open air.” Inspired by the Impressionists, this style of painting encourages artists of all skill levels to capture the natural light, movement, and colors of the prairie landscape in a relaxed outdoor setting.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own painting supplies. Registration is closed to purchase tickets for paint supplies. Local plant experts will be on hand to help identify native grasses and wildflowers, while art volunteers will offer painting tips for those seeking guidance. After the event, participants will have the opportunity to display their finished work at the Monarch Butterfly Tagging event in late August.
This project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
