The display and offering of colorfully decorated sugar skulls is another traditional element of Dia De Los Muertos, and Broadway Square will be hosting a presentation on authentic sugar skull creation and decoration.
Learn the basics of building your own "ofrednas," or small personal alters honoring a loved one that has moved on.
Creating alters to your deceased ancestors is a key element of Dia De Los Muertos, and there are some basic recommendations for how to best assemble a worthy display. A Broadway Square presenter will provide a list of recommendations and walk you through what you need to get started.
Join Broadway Square's Dia De Los Muertos event for a live presentation to learn the basics of Dia De Los Muertos - what it is all about, how it differs from Halloween, and the cultural traditions and language behind this colorful and meaningful celebration.
The opportunity to be creative is important too. Art and writing supplies are provided for shared use at the Creative Outlet station, along with drawing and writing prompts- or draw or write about whatever inspires you. Art and writing supplies are given away at the end of the event to those who have participated in the activities during the Day of Dignity event.
Professional stylists are providing free haircuts for those in need from 12:00-2:00 pm.
Mask use during the haircuts is requested, and masks will be made available.
Free fresh produce, food, and beverages from Fargo restaurants is available for people to take on a first come, first served basis.
