Fargo Fastpitch Association received a $2,366.17 match grant to partially fund their project: Fargo Fastpitch Main Diamond Upgrade. The project provided additional safety measures to Diamond 5 at the North Softball Complex. The new measures included fence top protectors on both foul line fences and the outfield fence as well as the addition of an outfield fence screen. These upgrades improved player safety for the more than 300 players who utilize this space.
Post 400 Legion Baseball received a $15,000 match grant to partially fund their project: Starion Field Phase 2. Post 400 Baseball in conjunction with Fargo Youth Baseball worked together on a Phase 2 project at Starion Field intended to provide for a better experience for players, fans and opponents. Phase 2 consisted of installing a batter’s eye in center field, flag pole with American flag and tables throughout the facility. The addition of a better’s eye is functional, attractive and increased opportunities for Starion to be a host site for advancing tournaments.
Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society received a $6,405 match grant to partially fund their project: Fostering Garden Usability & Accessibility. The project provided path construction to improve access to the Children’s Garden and Edible Forest and better meet ADA requirements. In addition, a structure was installed at the south end of the Edible Forest providing a shaded place to rest as well as serving as a trellis for plants. A handicap-accessible picnic table was installed to ensure the space is widely usable.
Join us on September 18 from 12:00 to 7:00 pm at North River Grassland in Fargo for Reforest the Red, a community tree and shrub planting event aimed at improving the health and stability of the Red River. By strategically planting trees along the riverbank, we can create a natural buffer that prevents soil erosion, encourages the growth of native plants, enhances water quality, and provides essential habitat for wildlife.
Volunteers will participate in various tasks, including digging holes, planting trees and shrubs, mulching, watering, and potentially staking the new plants. This effort not only supports the natural regeneration of trees along the Red River—an area where development and cultural practices have hindered natural growth—but also helps reduce air pollution, cool the atmosphere, and ease the severity of floods.
Short training sessions will be held throughout the event to ensure volunteers are prepared for their roles. This project is a collaborative effort between River Keepers, Fargo Park District, the City of Fargo, and the Cass County Soil Conservation District.

There is a critical unmet need for indoor recreation facilities available to the public in our community of Fargo. To address this issue and benefit 13,000+ local kids in the first year, the Fargo Park District Foundation is planning to build the Fargo Sports Complex. This highly impactful community recreation facility will accommodate indoor sports, activities, tournaments and special events! Phase one of the project includes:
Applicant must be ready for business within the guidelines of the agreement. The Applicant and its Vendors may not operate on dates/hours not specified in the contract or permit.
The Fargo Park District reserves the right to cancel an event due to acts of God, weather, or other unforeseen events. If the event is cancelled by the Fargo Park District, full refunds may be given.
Any checks returned will be processed by FCI, First Collections Inc. and a service fee will be applied.
All requests for special events within the Fargo Park System must include site plans with provisions for accessibility by persons who are disabled. All individuals will structure activities to ensure that they are barrier-free and offer equal opportunities for access. This includes portable toilets. When portable toilets are brought into a park for special events with large attendance, the event sponsor must provide an adequate supply of accessible toilets. Accessibility shall also be addressed in your medical, security and parking plans in the special events packets.
As the Event Organizer, it is important that you plan for safe arrival, departure, and parking of the event attendees, participants, and vendors. Please keep in mind that the Fargo Park District prohibits all vehicles from parking on the grass. The Fargo Park District staff does monitor and ticket illegally parked vehicles at the events. As the Event Organizer, you are responsible for informing all participants, volunteers, attendees, and vendors of the parking regulations.
