Davies Rec Pool - Parking Lot

Project Overview: Fargo Public Schools is undertaking a summer construction project at Davies High School to reconstruct the east parking lot, which will impact access for visitors to Davies Recreation Pool. The project involves demolishing the existing asphalt surface and replacing it with a new concrete parking lot to improve durability, drainage, and overall safety. Construction will be completed in phases to minimize disruption, beginning on the north side of the lot and progressing southward, with final completion expected in August prior to the 2027 school year. Throughout the summer, pool users should anticipate reduced parking availability and changing traffic patterns as different sections of the lot are closed for construction; however, this phased approach ensures that portions of the lot remain accessible at all times.
Red River Trail
Status: Completed September 2026
Location: Red River Trail
The Red River Trail will be closed from County Highway 20 to Broadway beginning September 8, 2026, for concrete repairs.
The contractor will be removing and replacing sections of concrete that have settled along the river. Barricades will be placed at the trail closure locations. The contractor anticipates reopening the trail on September 14, 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Sports Arena Entrance
Status: Complete August 2026

Project Overview: Remove and replace the outdated entry area at the Fargo Sports Arena with a safe and accessible entrance for all users.
Fargo Parks Sports Center Entrance
Status: Completed September 2026
Location: Fargo Parks Sports Center
Project Overview: The north parking lot entrance from 38th Street is closed August 24–September 3 while crews widen the roadway apron to improve vehicle access. The north building entrance remains open, and the north parking lot is accessible from the south roundabout on 38th Street or from Sports Drive via 64th Avenue.
Riverwood Park
Status: Completed August 2026
Location: Riverwood Park
Project Overview: The Riverwood Park stormwater outlet repair project consists of excavating soil around the main existing drainpipe for the multipurpose field and installing fabric and riprap around the stormwater outlet to prevent further riverbank erosion.
Unicorn Park
Status: Completed July 2026
Location: Unicorn Park
Project Overview: Improvements at Unicorn Park are focused on enhancing safety, functionality, and overall user experience. The project includes the removal of the existing half-court basketball court to make way for a new shelter pad that will provide shaded seating and improve site usability for visitors. In addition, the aging warming house will be demolished as part of ongoing efforts to address neighborhood safety concerns. Together, these updates support a more open, accessible, and welcoming park environment.
Longfellow Park Parking Lot
Status: Completed June 2026
Location: Longfellow Park
Project Overview: Remove and replace the deteriorating asphalt parking lot on the west side of the park with new asphalt surfacing, improving overall condition, usability, and durability.
Forest River Park River Access
Status: Completed May 2026
Location: Forest River Park
Project Overview: Improvements to the river access at Forest River Park are focused on addressing ongoing riverbank erosion and maintaining safe access to the river. Due to continued erosion over recent years, the existing concrete ramp will be removed as a result of its deteriorating condition. The area will be excavated to a depth of approximately 12 inches and replaced with compacted crushed concrete to create a more stable and resilient surface. While the updated ramp will continue to provide access for canoes and kayaks, the previous kayak launch will not be reinstalled at this time due to the instability of the surrounding riverbank.
Fargo South Pool Mechanical Replacement Project
Status: Completed April 2026
Location: Fargo South Pool
Project Overview: This project will include complete removal and replacement of all pumps, filters, piping and strainer baskets.
Winter Tree Pruning
Status: Completed March 2026
Location: Prairiewood Golf Course, Island Park, Lindenwood Park, Red River Trail, Oak Grove Park, Mickelson Park, Madison Park, Trefoil Park, Yunker Farm Park
Project Overview: The Fargo Park District Forestry Department and contracted pruning companies work together to maintain our tree population in the winter to keep them healthy, safe, and growing properly. During winter, trees are dormant, which means pruning causes less stress and damage. Cold temperatures also reduce the spread of insects and diseases that could enter through fresh cuts. Without leaves, it is easier to see the tree’s structure and remove problem branches. This timing helps trees grow stronger and healthier when spring arrives.
