• Teams must construct their sled prior to the event and bring it with them.
  • No materials will be available on-site.
  • Sleds must be free of sharp edges, pointy objects, or any other features deemed dangerous by event staff.
  • Participants must be able to stop their sled. You may be asked to explain or demonstrate how your sled stops during inspection.

Approved Materials

Only the following materials may be used to construct sleds:

  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Tape
  • Glue

Prohibited Materials

The following materials are not allowed:

  • Corrugated plastics or other corrugated materials
  • Non-corrugated cardboard such as carpet tubes
  • Cardboard bonded to other materials
  • Epoxy-reinforced cardboard or any cardboard that raises safety concerns
  • Tar-based substances
  • Epoxy glue
  • Fiberglass resin
  • Two-part varnishes or any other two-part substances
  • Glues that harden into solids that may be deemed dangerous or may leave hazardous debris on the hill
  • Screws, mechanical fasteners, nails, staples, or any other fastening materials that may be deemed dangerous or may leave hazardous debris on the hill

If there is any doubt about a material, do not use it.

Taping Rules

  • Tape may be used only on seams and joints.
  • The entire sled may not be taped.
  • Sleds may not be wrapped in plastic, tape, shrink wrap, or any other materials.
