Fargo Park District & USA Broomball rules will apply to all leagues.
* EQUIPMENT - Helmets are mandatory for all players. Players will be unable to play without one. Goalies must have face protection. Broomball shoes/mouth guards are a suggestion but not mandatory.
1. All rosters must be completed and turned in before your first league game. All players will be required to have some sort of identification with them to verify what league team they are playing with during the season. Each player is only allowed to participate on one roster per season!
2. The last day for any roster additions will be Wednesday, December 16, 2020
3. Must have 4 players to play.
4. Goalies- May not play the ball beyond the red line. They also may not come back on the ice until after play has been stopped.
5. A hand pass is ALLOWED. The ball may be stopped and controlled by the hand, but may not be carried or held to the body. The defensive team may bat or pass the ball with the hand in any direction to a teammate behind their defending (blue line). Any hand pass by the defensive team must begin and be completed before the ball crosses the defensive (blue line). Beyond the defensive blue line, if after being hand passed, the ball is first touched by an opponent or ruled to have been an unintentional deflection or blocking of the ball, all players are eligible and play is not stopped. This rule also applies to the goaltender. However, the goaltender may not throw the ball forward. PENALTY: Face-off in defensive zone.
6. Face-offs A face-off will take place in the nearest end-zone face-off spot if one of the following occurs during play:
1) If the goalkeeper freezes the ball.
2) If the defending team knocks the goal cage during play.
3) If the ball gets lodged in the netting
* In Addition: Any penalty given out to a player the faceoff will take place in the offending team’s end-zone.
EXCEPTION: If the offending team knocks the goal cage off during play, then a face-off will take place, inside their blue line.
7. Icing is in effect at all times. Exception: A team on a penalty kill can ice the ball; icing shall be nullified and play will continue.
8. The duration of halves is 18-minute stop time. At any time in the second half that the goal differential is four or more, running time shall be instituted.
9. Ejections- If you are ejected (game misconduct) from a game for verbal abuse and/or fighting in men’s, you will be out that game + four league games. You will not be able to play in any other leagues until you serve your four game suspension. A second (game misconduct) will be an automatic suspension from playing for the rest of the season. If a (game misconduct) takes place during the last week of the season, the League Supervisor and League Coordinator will handled the suspension of that player(s) accordingly.
10. Any player(s) throwing equipment (i.e. sticks, helmets etc) into the player’s box, during the game, in an attempt to demeanor the game, officials or players at any time will receive a five minute (major) penalty.
REFERENCE OF PENALTIES:
MINOR – TWO MINUTES
MAJOR – FIVE MINUTES
MISCONDUCT – TEN MINUTES (Upon the severity, could be a game misconduct)
If any player receives three penalties in one game, that player will receive a game misconduct and be ejected from the remainder of that game. (Suspended that game only).
11. FORFEITS – Game time is forfeit time. If you do not have the minimum number of players that is required to play in that league it will be a forfeit. Referees will NOT officiate games that become forfeits.
12. TIEBRAKERS – In the case of a tie in league play, to determine the league champion in each division.
1. head to head
2. head to head goals against each other
3. total goals for season against teams played in other divisions
4. playoff
13. PROFANITY RULE – In the discretion of the official, a player is caught using any type of profanity, harassment of players, or attempting to incite another player during the game, that player(s) will receive a 10 minute misconduct where they will sit the entire ten minutes. The team will play at full strength but will lose there player(s) for the ten minute period.
OVERTIME PROCEDURE 5 minute stop time ( 4 on 4 no goalie sudden death )
If game is tied after 1st overtime: Game ends in a tie.
