The Fargo Park District Foundation received a donation from SCHEELS employees to benefit the Fargo Park District’s Youth Scholarship Program. The donation will allow 100 youth in Fargo to have access to the pools this summer by providing season pool passes at no cost to qualifying youth.
Through the Youth Scholarship Program, the Fargo Park District strives toward serving the needs of all citizens regardless of income level. The goal of the Youth Scholarship program is to serve low and moderate income families in Fargo by providing opportunities that allow financially disadvantaged youth ages 18 and younger to participate in general recreation programs.
This donation from SCHEELS employees will allow children in need in our community to access the Fargo Park Districts five outdoor pools all summer long. The outdoor pools include Island Park Pool, Madison Pool & Splash Pad, Davies Recreational Pool, Southwest Recreation Pool and Roger G. Gress Northside Pool.
“This donation from SCHEELS will create an amazing summer at the pools for so many local children,” said Kevin Boe, Fargo Park District Recreation Director. “SCHEELS has been a long time partner for the Fargo Park District and continues to help make a difference for children in Fargo.”
SCHEELS holds two Random Act of Kindness events each quarter and their corporate campus associates raised $6,455 for the Fargo youth throughout their May supply campaign drive.
“Active lifestyles and helping kids develop those skills are something that really resonates with our associates and it really shows in their willingness to donate to this program,” said Molly Stanley, SCHEELS Human Resource Specialist.
“We set a goal to raise 100 passes for kids in our community and our associates and everyone on our leadership team rallied together to make that happen!”
