Sports Arena Reroof Project

As part of the consent agenda, Park Board Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve and award bids for the Sports Arena Reroof project to Gast Construction.

The reroofing project will begin on June 19th and completion is expected by August 25th. Construction will be completed in two phases to ensure that the facilities are still open for public use.

The Sports Arena, located at 2001 17th Avenue S, is used by the public and school district for many recreational programs and activities including hockey, ice skating, walking, jogging and volleyball. The facility features a running track, weight room and figure skating rink.

Growing Together Community Gardens License Agreements

As part of the consent agenda, Park Board Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve a license agreement with Growing Together Community Gardens to allow the construction of tool sheds at Rabanus Park and McCormick Park.

Both parks are home to community gardens. The sheds will allow Growing Together staff and participants to secure their tools and equipment on-site. The goal of Growing Together Community Gardens is to create sustainable gardens in the community to address food insecurity.

Yunker Farm Park Master Plan Recommendations

Park Board Commissioners voted 5-0 to accept the final report regarding the Yunker Farm Master Plan recommendations.

In September of 2022, the Commissioners awarded Norris Design the Yunker Farm Master Plan project. The goal was to transform the 55-acre park located in North Fargo into a destination that serves the community, celebrates the park’s history and increases public awareness of its amenities and natural beauty.

Representatives of the Norris Design team attended the June Board meeting to present their final report of recommendations. The recommendations include a large dog park, sidewalk and trail system, community garden plots, outdoor classroom and gathering area, a Great Lawn and Plaza, park pavilion and more.

Now that the plan has been received by Park Board Commissioners, Fargo Park District staff will begin the planning and budgeting process for projects and improvements that align with the overall master plan.
