Approval of changes to Urban Archery Deer Hunting program

As part of the consent agenda, Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve proposed changes to the Urban Archery Deer Hunting program.

Proposed changes for the 2024-2025 season include:

  • Assigning all eligible zones to include city property, not only Fargo Park District properties.

  • Flexible zones based on in-season results.

  • Zone expansions for Funfar Park to have each side of the bike path available and Peterson Park to move edge of woodline.

The Urban Archery Deer Hunting program is managed by Sandhills Archery Club in partnership with the Fargo Park District and the City of Fargo. The program, permitted and regulated by the North Dakota Game & Fish Department, seeks to reduce the urban deer population in the City of Fargo by utilizing a limited archery season and a small number of certified hunters.

Approval of 2025 fees for programming, events and facilities

As part of the consent agenda, Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve programming, event and facility fees for the 2025 season. As part of the budget process each year, staff closely evaluate current programming and facility fees to determine recommendations for fee increases the following year. Staff use a number of factors including program fees at cost per participant, comparisons to similar facilities, and fee trends to make recommendations.

Fee recommendations include those for programming, events, facilities, golf, Fargo Parks Sports Center, Courts Plus Community Fitness and aquatics. To view the entire 2025 fee schedule, click HERE and scroll to page 79.

The funds for the project will come from the 2024 capitals and the 2024 concrete and asphalt budgets.

The timeline for bid process will be determined after determination of needed work.
