Following the conclusion of a successful season of softball, the Fargo Park District’s North Softball Complex has been named the 2022 USA Softball Complex of the Year, presented by Stabilizer Solutions, Inc. The North Softball Complex received the prestigious award at the 91st USA Softball Annual Council Meeting held in Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana in November. Founded in 1933 as the Amateur Softball Association, USA Softball is the National Governing Body of Softball in the Unites States, as declared by the United States Olympic Committee in 1978.
"The Fargo Park District built an exceptional facility and continues to serve our community and region through their support of annual local tournaments, weekly leagues and many National Tournaments since they opened their gates in 2016,” says Fargo-Moorhead CVB Sports and Events Manager Stephonie Broughton. “This is one of the premiere complexes in the United States providing fans and teams with everything that they could dream of and more and we are lucky enough to call it ‘ours’.”
Over the course of a typical year, the North Softball Complex hosts 12 tournaments with six different organizations utilizing the complex. Included in this year’s major events were the North Dakota USA JO Soft Pitch Tournament, Men’s Class B National Tournament, Red River Rage Tournament and the USA Softball of North Dakota’s Monsta Bash Tournament.
“This award is a testament to the Fargo Park District staff’s hard work. They do an outstanding job of maintaining the facility and creating a fun, safe and pleasant experience for players and fans,” says Fargo Park District Executive Director Dave Leker. “Whether it’s USA Softball tournaments or local events, our staff take great pride in what they do and it shows both on and off the field. We are thrilled to provide such a great facility for softball players across the region.”
With five full-time staff and many part-time and seasonal employees dedicated to the facility, Fargo Park District crews work tirelessly to keep the facilities and fields in top shape for competition. In addition to the 18 softball fields, the North Complex includes large shade structures, concession stands, two playgrounds, picnic tables and restroom facilities. The complex is located North of Fargo at 6101 45th Street North. For more information and drone footage of the complex visit FargoParks.com.
