The Fargo Park District is excited to announce the launch of its Park System Master Plan, an initiative designed to guide the development of Fargo’s parks, trails, facilities, programs, events and open spaces for the next 20 years.

Central to the planning process is a commitment to community engagement, with the Fargo Park District encouraging Fargo residents to actively participate in shaping the future of their park district. By collaborating with the community, the Master Plan will establish a shared vision that aligns with Fargo’s unique needs and aspirations, while setting clear strategy for prioritizing investments, improving operations and maintaining excellence across the entire park system.

“The Park System Master Plan is not just about planning for the future; it’s about ensuring that our park system grows in a way that truly reflects the values and priorities of our community,” says Susan Faus, Fargo Park District executive director. “We want Fargo residents to know their voices are essential to this process, and we are committed to creating spaces, places, and experiences that will serve our community for generations to come.”

Community participation opportunities

The Fargo Park District invites the public to actively participate in shaping the master plan through Connect.FargoParks.com, where residents can engage in a needs analysis and survey. The community can contribute in the following ways:

  1. Show us: Add a marker to an interactive map to share your thoughts by selecting from options such as “Favorite Park”, “Idea or Question”, “More of This”, or “Needs Improvement.” Participants can add comments to explain their selections.

  1. Tell us: Complete a brief survey to provide insights on park usage and community priorities.

  1. Dream: Submit ideas or concepts for what you would like to see in Fargo’s parks. Upload a description, photo or video to share your vision.
