Birding is the identification and observation of wild birds in their natural habitat as a recreation.
These classes teach the philosophy of birding, tools for bird watching, bird anatomy, field marks, bird songs and more. Participants will also learn about the best places to bird in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Please bring binoculars to enhance your birding experience. The first class is a lecture followed by eight early morning field trips.

This class teaches the philosophy of birding, places to bird in the Fargo-Moorhead area, tools for bird watching, bird anatomy, field marks, bird songs and more. The first class includes a lecture on Monday, May 6 (6:30-9:00 pm) followed by six 7:00 am field trips May 10, 11,17, 18, 24, 25.
This advanced class is designed to help a birder recognize the common species of the area and particularly those unique birds that migrate through the Fargo-Moorhead Red River corridor. The class works on both visual and auditory identification. The first class includes a lecture on Tuesday, May 7 (6:30-9:00 pm) followed by six 7:00 am field trips May 10,11,17,18, 24, 25.
Fargo Park District Programs & Leagues
All Fargo Park District programs and leagues are first come first serve. Please be advised, a lot of programs and leagues fill up before the registration deadline. You cannot register for a program or league that is already full. Some programs and leagues have waitlists. If you are on a waitlist, you are NOT registered and are only contacted if a spot becomes available.
