Approval granted for the purchase of lots at Heritage Hills Park

Commissioners voted 4-0 to grant staff permission to proceed with a purchase agreement of two lots located on the southeastern side of Heritage Hills Park.

In 2017, Cass County deeded several lots of land in Heritage Hills, along the Red River at 88th Ave. S., to the Fargo Park District to develop a nature park. Two of the lots, located on the southeastern side of the park, remained privately owned by a local family.

In 2021, the Fargo Park District initially attempted to negotiate the purchase of the lots but was unsuccessful. Recently, staff received a request from the family that owns the lots to reopen the discussion regarding the purchase.

With permission granted, staff will continue to work with the owners to proceed with a purchase agreement. The acquisition of the lots would add to Heritage Hills Park property.

Heritage Hills Park is located at 814 Heritage Circle South in south Fargo. It is classified as one of Fargo’s nature parks. The park includes both hiking and ski trails and is part of the Urban Woods and Prairie Initiative with Audubon Great Plains.
