The Fargo Park District Board of Commissioners held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 in the Alex Stern Community Room at the Fargo Parks Sports Center. The board approved the agenda and consent agenda as presented. 

Public Comments 

During public comments, several community members spoke in support of keeping Broadway Station open, citing its importance to North Fargo seniors and concerns about the feasibility of alternative locations. Additional comments were shared regarding a Courts Plus pickleball instruction policy, with speakers expressing concern about how the policy is being applied. Board leadership noted the board’s policy-level role and shared that the matter would be reviewed to determine whether a policy update is warranted. 

Director’s Report 

Executive Director Susan Faus shared early-2026 priorities tied to the District’s strategic plan, including continued work on the Park System Master Plan and organizational initiatives related to compensation and benefits, partnerships, sustainability, and performance measures. Updates were also provided on upcoming software transitions to improve budgeting, capital planning, and recreation registration. An operational note was also shared regarding expected high attendance at the Fargo Parks Sports Center during the upcoming large weekend tournament, including a temporary closure of the walking track during peak spectator use for safety. 

Executive Director Employment Agreement 

The board approved the Executive Director’s employment agreement unanimously and shared appreciation for the Executive Director’s leadership and performance in 2025. 

Governance Committee Updates 

The board received a Governance Committee update that included discussion related to reviewing governance procedures and the proposed 2026 governance annual work plan. 

Planning Committee Updates 

The board received a Planning Committee update that included discussion related to the Broadway Station lease renewal, scholarship program updates, routine financial and banking items, and the District’s transition from Pepsi to Coca-Cola.
