There are exciting changes underway for recreation opportunities for adults ages 55+ in Fargo! The Fargo Park District is now actively programming recreational opportunities for adults 55+, with a focus on providing engaging activities, creating opportunities to connect and making it easier to find out what is happening throughout our community.

This transition is, in part, a response to the North Fargo Older Adult Engagement that took place last year. Through those conversations, we heard two messages loud and clear: adults 55+ would like to see more programming opportunities in North Fargo, and information about existing programs and activities needs to be communicated more clearly and consistently.

New Opportunities Are Here!

As part of this growing lineup, we’re excited to introduce a new Art Workshop series offered twice each month. These 1.5-hour, instructor-led classes will give participants the opportunity to get creative, learn something new and enjoy time with others. One workshop will be held each month at Yunker Farm Park and one at the Fargo Parks Sports Center. Advance registration is required, and the cost is $10 per class.

We’re also expanding our popular Safety Social to reach more of the community! Previously held at the Fargo Parks Sports Center, Safety Socials will now rotate between Fargo Parks Sports Center, Broadway Station and Trollwood Village Senior Center. Each month will feature a new topic, giving you another reason to join us, learn something useful and connect with others. Safety Socials are free to attend, with coffee and treats provided!

These additions are another step in the right direction, but we aren’t done yet. The Fargo Park District continues to research, listen and learn about the recreational opportunities adults 55+ would like to see in Fargo. More is on the way as our plans and programming continue to evolve!
