The Fargo Park District invites the community to “hang out” at Island Park on Monday, July 22 for National Hammock Day. The event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. near the Island Park Gazebo and promises to be an afternoon of relaxation and community engagement.
Attendees can enjoy laid back tunes from local vinyl DJ AP, explore the Fargo Public Library book cart, play the interactive “We’re Not Really Strangers” card game, and help paint a community mural.
A limited supply of hammocks will be on-site to check out at zero cost for those who do not have one. This event is free, open to the entire community, and offers a chance to gather friends or make new ones while celebrating a favorite park pastime.
This year’s National Hammock Day celebration is part of National Park and Recreation Month, which has been celebrated during the month of July for nearly 40 years in the United States. This year’s theme, “Where You Belong,” emphasizes the inclusive and welcoming nature of parks and recreation programs, which create safe, accessible spaces for all members of the community.
