The Fargo Park District Foundation hosted a beam signing event on Tuesday, February 7 at the site of the future Fargo Parks Sports Center in South Fargo. The event was a celebration of the generosity of donors and the hard work of Fargo Park District staff and partners. It also signifies the project milestone with the installation of the final beam as part of the complex’s ongoing construction.

A project of this size takes many partners. As construction continues, it is important to celebrate the hard work of local partners and Fargo Parks staff, as well as the numerous generous donations from community members. A beam signing and “topping off” ceremony is a long-standing tradition of construction workers, particularly steelworkers, to commemorate the completion of a building‘s structure. During the event, attendees will sign the final beam before it is lifted and installed atop the structure later in February. The Fargo Park District is thrilled to celebrate this construction milestone of the placement of the final beam with those who have made the project possible.

Construction of the Fargo Parks Sports Center is currently underway with the facility scheduled to open in the Summer of 2024. A highly impactful community recreation and gathering space with incredible potential for multiple kinds of events and programs, the Fargo Parks Sports Center is expected to serve thousands of local community members and organizations and attract more than 1,000,000 visitors annually.
