The leadership for the Farg Park District Foundation Foundation Board of Directors is made up of community leaders and concerned citizens serving in a volunteer capacity. Their roles include financial overview and support, overseeing risk and compliance (fiduciary), creating accountability, transparency and strategic fundraising direction and monitoring and evaluating governance.

Rock Messerschmidt grew up in Dilworth, MN and graduated high school in 1975. He received his BA in Business Administration/Accounting from Concordia College in 1979. Rock is married to his wife Brenda and they have five children. His professional career began in Banking in 1979 with Bremer Banks. Today, Rock is currently the Senior Vice President-Regional Sales Director at Bell Bank. He is actively involved in many non-profits, including United Way of Cass-Clay, YMCA of Cass and Clay and CHARISM.

Dr. Jeffrey M. Schatz has been dedicated to the field of education & to the youth of North Dakota since 1983. His career started as a teacher at Sargent Central in Forman, ND. He then moved on to the ND Special Olympics State Office as the director of training & volunteer. In 1988, he joined the Grand Forks Public Schools where he devoted more than 20 years of his life to the students of that district. In 2009, he joined Fargo Public Schools as the first principal of Davies High School. The Board of Education of the City of Fargo hired Dr. Schatz as the Superintendent of Schools in the spring of 2012. He has served the district as superintendent for six years, retiring in June 2018.

Stacey was elected to the Fargo Park District Board in 2018. As part of her role as Park Board President, she serves as district's representative to the Fargo Park District Foundation Board. She has lived in Fargo for over 30 years and currently resides in south Fargo with her husband Wes. They raised their boys (Ben & Peter) in south Fargo and their family has been avid park users for decades. Stacey works part-time for The Apartment Movers, Inc., and has been involved in many local organizations. She looks forward to working to make Fargo an excellent place for families to live and grow.

Barb Johnson grew up in Bismarck, ND, attending Bismarck Junior College and Dickinson State College where she graduated with a degree in nursing. Barb worked in various areas in nursing including the operating room, emergency room, research and obstetrics. She is married to Jim, a retired orthopedic surgeon, and together they have 3 adult, married children in Fargo and 6 grandchildren. Barb served on the Fargo Park Board for 16 years and was involved in many volunteer organizations including FM Junior League, PTA, Mentor Moms and PEO. She continues to appreciate Fargo Parks and all the opportunities the organization offers for her family and herself. Barb looks forward to serving the Foundation.

Mike Erickson has worked at Sanford since 2011. He is responsible for numerous teams in a wide variety of areas. His Facilities team manages all the buildings and grounds throughout the region in eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota. Mike leads all the real estate planning, design and construction for Sanford projects.

Other teams under his leadership include: Safety and Security, Medical and Imaging Equipment, Electronics, Guest Services/Valet/Volunteers, Environmental Services/Laundry, Medical Waste and Sanford’s Day Care Center in Fargo. Mike also manages the Food Services team which includes patient room service, nutrition therapy, diabetes education as well as the retail restaurants and gift shops within Sanford facilities.

Mike and his wife Nichole live in Moorhead with their daughter Quinn and son Quade. Mike is an executive board member for the Fargo Downtown Community Partnership (DCP).

Kali Mork joined the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau in the fall of 2014. As the director of sports, she is responsible for the recruitment of major sporting events to the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area, providing support to local sports organizations with their athletic events and working on the development of other grass roots athletic events that drive economic improvement for the community. Prior to joining the CVB, she served as assistant general manager for Scheels Arena for six years. She also serves on the board of the Metro Tournament Committee. She and her husband, Alex, spend much of their time chasing their three young daughters around the many parks and youth sports programs in the community.

Roger G. Gress is a Fargo native and has been deeply involved and dedicated to his community for years. Upon his return home from a three year tour in the Navy-Marine Corps, Roger pursued his education in Art from Northwest Technical College and North Dakota State University. Roger’s professional career started with the Fargo Park District in 1979 as the Park Designer and Planner. From here, his career flourished as he served two 4-year terms on the Park Board and in 1991 he was appointed as the Executive Director of Fargo Parks. After retiring in 2016, Roger still remains dedicated and involved in his community, and is currently serving on 7 local boards.
