Giving Hearts Day is this week and the Fargo Park District Foundation is asking for your support of the Fargo Sports Complex project, an extraordinary building project that will address a critically unmet need for indoor recreation facilities available to the Fargo community.

Funds raised on February 11 will support the construction of a multipurpose indoor recreation facility critical to community wellness and the growth of recreational opportunities. The Fargo Sports Complex will accommodate many indoor sports, activities, tournaments and special events. Phase one of this project includes an indoor turf field, 4 – 6 full-size basketball courts, an indoor ice sheet, multipurpose space and an indoor walking track.

As Giving Hearts Day approaches, the Fargo Park District Foundation is taking the time to highlight the community benefits the Fargo Sports Complex can provide for the participants of eight local organizations. By partnering with local sports organizations like F-M Athletics, this project also provides for greater opportunities for access to recreational programs for members of our community.

F-M Athletics was founded in 1972 and since then about 30,000 kids have participated in their youth programs. The Fargo Sports Complex will offer a much-needed indoor turf area and provide a space to play regardless of the weather.

“It’s great for the kids,” said Otto Perrie, President of F-M Athletics. “They got a place to go where they can do a million things and have fun and be with their friends.”

The additional turf space at the Fargo Sports Complex will allow organizations like F-M Athletics to expand their reach and promote physical activity for the many families who they are unable to serve with their current set up. This project also gives F-M Athletics the opportunity to connect their young athletes with the many valuable programs that Fargo Park District provides to the community.

Help support the Fargo Sports Complex by donating to the Fargo Park District Foundation on Giving Hearts Day! Your support benefits the community and partner organizations like F-M Athletics. Donations can be made from now until February 11 by mail (701 Main Ave) or through our Giving Hearts Day page.

Scheel’s will match your donation to the Fargo Park District Foundation’s Fargo Sports Complex. They are matching up to $250,000, which means for every dollar you donate, one more will be raised to help make this project a reality!

This project will have a wide-reaching impact for our community. Read more about the Fargo Sport Complex in our previous Giving Hearts Day spotlight blogs:
