This February, the Fargo Park District Foundation is asking for your support of the Fargo Sports Complex project, an extraordinary building project that will address a critically unmet need for indoor recreation facilities available to the Fargo community.

Funds raised on Giving Hearts Day will support the construction of a multipurpose indoor recreation facility critical to community wellness and the growth of recreational opportunities. The Fargo Sports Complex will accommodate many indoor sports, activities, tournaments and special events. Phase one of this project includes an indoor soccer turf field, 4 – 6 full-size basketball courts, an indoor ice sheet, multipurpose space and an indoor walking track.

As Giving Hearts Day approaches, the Fargo Park District Foundation is taking the time to highlight eight Fargo sports organizations and the community benefits the Fargo Sports Complex can provide for their participants. By partnering with local sports organizations like Fargo Youth Baseball, this project also provides greater opportunities for access to recreational programs for members of our community.

In the first year of operation alone, approximately 13,000 kids in our community will benefit from the Fargo Sports Complex That’s counting the nearly 3,200 kids who participate in Fargo Youth Baseball and the Red River Valley League.

“The Fargo Sports Complex is something that Fargo needs,” said Alex Sumner, President/CEO of Fargo Youth Baseball. “Giving our kids an opportunity to (practice) baseball year-round is something that they strive to get towards and helps them build athleticism.”

The ability to have baseball practice on the indoor turf during the winter or on rainy days in the summer is just one of the many positive impacts the Fargo Sports Complex will have on the Fargo Youth Baseball community. Along with being able to provide kids in the community with the space to get physical exercise in a fun atmosphere.

“I have been coaching for 8 years and when my son was five-years-old we started,” said Chad Hanson, a Fargo Youth Baseball parent. “This sports complex is going to be very helpful for that just field space wise. The weather and all that we deal with the snow and all that, so kids can play year-round. It’s going to be a great opportunity for them.”

Help support the Fargo Sports Complex by donating to the Fargo Park District Foundation on Giving Hearts Day! Your support benefits the community and partner organizations like Fargo Youth Baseball. Donations can be made from now until February 11 by mail (701 Main Ave) or through our Giving Hearts Day page.
