Welcome, Austin and Samantha to our Broadway Square team! As practicum students at Seattle University in the Master of Fine Arts Leadership program, these two have joined our team to assist with programming at Broadway Square. Originally from the southern United States, Austin is from Columbus, Georgia and Samantha from Edmond, Oklahoma. Read below to learn why they chose Broadway Square, what they’re most excited for and more.
Question: Why did you choose your practicum at Broadway Square?
Austin: I chose Broadway Square because I have a vested interest in developing artistic experiences in local communities.
Samantha: I chose Broadway Square as my first practicum experience because of its focus on the stories of individuals within the Fargo community. Broadway Square’s mission expresses a dedication to amplifying voices and highlighting the range of lives which exist within one community. Creating space for arts programming is at the core of my goals as an arts leader, and Broadway Square exemplifies the importance of accessibility and culture for all.
Question: What are you most excited to work on for Broadway Square?
Austin: I’m most excited to see the growth of Broadway Square programming as it continues to provide diverse, artistic experiences to the surrounding populations.
Samantha: I am most excited to take on a future programming event and lay the groundwork for what it could be. Broadway Square offers something for everyone, and knowing I have the opportunity to create an event with my own unique vision is an incredible feeling.
Question: What is your dream job?
Austin: My dream job is continuing to change! I have worked in education, non-profit development, artistic producing, and creative consulting.
Samantha: I have always struggled to choose just one dream job. In my perfect life, I will manage a theatre festival, become a certified drama therapist, partner with my sister to publish an educational children’s book, and continuously strive to bring arts education to places which currently lack support for the arts.
Question: What is a fun fact about yourself?
Austin: I am a karaoke enthusiast and love to sing!
Samantha: I worked as a barista in the city center of Dublin, Ireland after graduating college.
